Professor Kang Zhensheng was born in Anyue County, Sichuan Province in 1957. He is chair professor of the Cheung Kong Scholar Program, first-level candidate of the National “Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project” and the “Three Five Talent Project” of Shaanxi Province, expert with outstanding contributions by the Ministry of Agriculture and doctoral supervisor of the university. Professor Kang serves as director of Biotech Center, Northwest A&F University, the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Molecular Biology, Shaanxi Province and the Institute of Plant Pathology, Northwest A&F University, Ministry of Agriculture as well as vice chairman of the Chinese Plant Pathology Society, chairman of the Plant Pathology Society of Shaanxi Province, Member of the 4th Discipline Review Group of Academic Degree Convention of the State Council and Teaching Directing Committee of the Ministry of Education, Director of Disease Resistance and Breeding Committee of Chinese Plant Pathology Society and Associate Director of Fungi Committee of Chinese Plant Pathology Society, Editor of Journal of Plant Pathology, Journal of Plant Diseases and Protection and Mycosystema etc..

Education & Working Experience
1981 Department of Plant Protection, Northwest Agricultural University Bachelor’s Degree;
1988-1990 Winnipeg Research Station, Canada, PhD Degree ;
1991-1996 Teaching and research work in plant pathology of the Department of Plant Protection, the A&F University, associate Professor and Professor;
1997-2001 Research on Wheat Pest and Disease in the University of Hohenheim, Germany.

Research Fields
Chiefly engaged in the study of the interaction between Plant Pathogenic Fungi and Host Wheat, Professor Kang explores systematically on wheat disease resistance mechanism and pathogenic mechanism from such aspects as histology, cytology, molecular cytology and molecular biology and has formed a characteristic research system.

Academic and Research Projects and Achievements
Professor Kang has undertaken over 30 national, ministerial and provincial projects funded by the Excellent Young University Teachers of the State Education Committee of China, the National Natural Science Foundation, Basic Research Development Program, major cultivation projects of the Ministry of Education,the National Climb Plan, National Key Science and Technology Project and Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education of China etc. He also participated in more than 10 other national, ministerial or provincial research projects

Professor Kang has published over 180 academic papers at home and abroad, 40 of which were collected by SCI, edited and co-edited 8 books, including Ultra-structure of Plant Pathogenic Fungi and Ultra-structural Morphology of Plant Pathogenic Fungi, the only two distinguished monographs in this field in China. He won 5 Science and Technology Achievements awards at national, provincial or ministerial level. The Ultra-structural and cytochemical studies on interactions between Plant Pathogenic Fungi and Host Plant won the first prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Achievements Award in 2003, Resistance Variation of Fan 6 and its Derivative Wheat to Stripe Rustand and Control Countermeasures gained the second prize of Science and Technology Achievements Award, Ministry of Agriculture and the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 1999.
